The Chris Project

The Chris Project is a long-term documentary project centering on one of my best friends, Chris, a Berlin-based Japanese/U.S. American who is an electronic musician with schizophrenia. By depicting the daily life of my friend, I wish to de-sensationalize and destigmatize what being schizophrenic actually means. Without sloganeering and exploitative tricks, I wish to show Chris as he wants to be seen. This is not a film mired in dismay and hopelessness, nor is it a surface-level tale about a man fighting against all odds. The Chris Project is a film that reflects what being a musician with schizophrenia in today’s society is like.
